Blastocyst culture (Extended Embryo Culture)

After successful IVF/ICSI treatment, embryo transfer usually takes place on the third day post-fertilisation.

With the aid of adapted cell culture media, the embryos can be further cultured at a later stage – the so-called blastocyst stage.

It is statistically proven that about 50% of the early embryos do not reach the blastocyst stage. However, if an embryo does get this far, a higher nidation (implantation) rate is expected.
